This is a lovely piece of art rug in reddish colours. Mashad rugs are originated from Mashhad city which is located Khorasan province of northeastern Iran. Mashhad is the ancient city of Khorasan, and it was the capital of Khorasan province. It is a holy place and destination for pilgrims. Mashad hand-knotted rugs in the sixteenth to eighteenth have floral designs with beautiful colour combinations. Mashad carpets colouration background generally in red-blue or pomegranate-red. Normally in the designs used palmettes, flowers, leaves, vines, stylized motifs, and minor borders.
